The speaker felt this way because he felt that it was violating his rights as a person and that this is a huge price to pay for going on the internet. They are paid by larger companies to give them this information so the larger companies can sell you things that you appeal to from your internet browsing. It helps small companies advertise more specifically so they don't have to spend substantial amounts of money on advertising everywhere. No, not really. I think sacrificing some of your privacy to be connected by this great powerful machine we call the internet is a small price to pay for the amount of potential it has. I'm sure quite a lot of dots would pop up for me but, I don't worry about that because if they are advertising products that I may like it could pop-up with something that I may want to buy. (Yes that is the whole point of this advertising anyway).
